Connect Bambu Printers to Print Farm Software Without a Raspberry Pi

No Raspberry Pi Required: Connecting Your Bambu Fleet to Printago

Most commercial print farm software requires a Raspberry Pi or local server just to talk to your printers. Printago doesn't. If your Bambu printers are cloud-connected, you can have them monitored and managed inside Printago in minutes — no hardware to source, configure, or maintain.

Our integration was built before Bambu Lab introduced their authorization system in newer firmware. It works on original models running pre-lockout firmware, and we'll cover exactly what that means below. If you have newer printers that don't meet the firmware requirement, we have you covered too — more on that shortly.

No Raspberry Pi. Just Log In.

The typical onboarding story for print farm software involves setting up a local client on a Raspberry Pi or home server and configuring network ports. It's a barrier that filters out a lot of otherwise motivated operators before they've even seen the product.

With Printago's Bambu Cloud integration, the path is:

  1. Start a free 14-day trial at app.printago.io

  2. Go to Settings → Integrations → Bambu Lab

  3. Authenticate with your Bambu Lab account

  4. Select the printers you want to connect

  5. Done

Your printers appear in Printago. You can monitor status, send jobs, manage the queue, and route orders from your Etsy or Shopify store — all without touching a single piece of hardware beyond the printers you already own.

From one user: "If you have to take out a Raspberry Pi, it's a hard pass. 3D printing is supposed to be easy." Cloud-first connection is how it should work.

The Firmware Caveat — and Why It Exists

In early 2025, Bambu Lab introduced an authorization system in newer firmware that restricts third-party software from communicating with printers over the cloud. Printago's cloud integration was built before this lockout — it works on printers running the original firmware versions that predate the change.

Compatible models and required firmware versions:

  • X1 Carbon: 1.08.02 or earlier

  • P1S: 1.08.01 or earlier

  • A1: 1.04 or earlier

  • A1 Mini: 1.04 or earlier

If your printer is on older firmware, you're ready to connect. Many Bambu printers still ship from the factory on pre-lockout firmware. If you've updated past the required version, you can downgrade using the Bambu Handy mobile app (the easiest method) or via SD card following Bambu's official guides. The Handy app makes this straightforward — select your firmware version and it handles the rest.

Newer Printers: Printago Fuse

For printers that can't run pre-lockout firmware — including the H2D and any printer you'd prefer not to downgrade — Printago Fuse is the answer.

Fuse is a lightweight LAN client with native apps for Windows and Mac that bridges your local printers to Printago's cloud platform. Download it, run it, enter an activation code, configure your printers, and they appear alongside any cloud-connected ones. No Raspberry Pi required — though if you want to run it headlessly on a server or a Pi, there's a Docker image for that too.

The activation flow takes about the same amount of time as the cloud setup — download the app, launch it, click the activation link, done.

Mixed Fleets Work Too

If your farm includes a mix of older and newer Bambu printers — some on pre-lockout firmware, some not — both connection modes can run simultaneously. Older printers connect via Bambu Cloud directly; newer ones connect via Fuse. From inside Printago, they all appear in the same printer list, share the same queue, and participate in the same order routing logic.

You don't need to pick a single connection strategy for your whole fleet. Use whichever mode fits each printer.

What You Get Once Connected

Connecting your printers is the starting point, not the end state. Once they're in Printago:

  • Orders from Etsy or Shopify route automatically to the right printer based on material availability

  • The full variant system resolves customer-selected options (color, size, personalization) to the correct part and filament without manual intervention

  • Role-based access lets operators manage the queue without touching integrations or settings

  • Webhooks and MQTT push real-time status to any external system you want to connect
